The traffic model forecasts that if the roadway were not widened, the driving time for local <br />drivers on local roadways would stay about the same (+ 1 hour collectively) during the 4:30 to <br />5:30 PM peak hour. The traffic volume change is so minor that the additional driving time is <br />most likely due to the lower travel speeds associated with 2-lane roads versus 4-lane divided <br />roadways. <br /> <br />By removing the Dublin Canyon Road widening from the 1996 General Plan Roadway Network, <br />local drivers would collectively drive about 18 miles less along local City roadways to reach <br />their destinations during the 4:30 to 5:30 PM peak hour. Unfortunately this shift in traffic may <br />be related to more vehicle shortcutting along Laurel Creek Drive instead of using Foothill Road <br />and Dublin Canyon Road. <br /> <br />The traffic model was run to forecast how traffic would change if the Dublin Canyon Road <br />widening were removed from the 1996 General Plan Roadway Network.
