PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. PC-96-71

RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION OF HOLOZ LAZER TAG FOR A
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT, AS FILED UNDER CASE UP-96-46

WHEREAS, Holoz Lazer Tag has applied for a conditional use permit to operate an indoor
recreational facility/amusement center consisting of "lazer tag," video games, and
food and beverage sales located at 5572 Springdale Avenue, Suites A-D, Best
Plaza Shopping Center; and

WHEREAS, zoning for the property C-R (p) (Regional Commercial- Peripheral Area),
District; and

WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of September 25, 1996, the Planning
Commission considered all public testimony, relevant exhibits, and
recommendations of the City staff concerning this application; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission made the following findings:

A The proposed location ofthe conditional use is in accordance with the
objectives of the zoning ordinance and the purpose of the district in which
the site is located.

Some ofthe objectives of the zoning ordinance are to: foster a
harmonious, convenient, workable relationship among land uses, protect
existing land uses from inharmonious influences and harmful intrusions,
and to insure that public and private lands ultimately are used for the
purposes which are most appropriate and beneficial to the City as a whole.
The proposed lazer tag facility will offer a unique form of recreation
desired by members of the community. The facility will be used more
regularly in the evening than during morning or early afternoon hours,
reducing the potential for parking conflicts with surrounding uses. The
presence of a security on premises to supervise and control the activities of
the patrons outside the establishment will help reduce the potential for
loitering and the temptation for property damage and other undesirable
activity to occur at this location. The facility is not expected to produce
noise impacts to nearby residences due to the required noise attenuation
measures and the distance between the two areas.
