The shadows and <br />leaf decomposition under tree canopies create optimum <br />conditions for living soil development and the establishment <br />of under-story shrub and ground cover growth. <br /> <br />Management practices shall emulate the natural ecosystems <br />that sustain mutually beneficial relationships among species. <br />A soil structure rich in organic matter and microorganisms <br />will promote healthy root development and plant growth. <br />Adding compost to the soil is one of the most effective ways <br />to improve soil structure.
