driplines , and avoidance of lawns and other incompatible plant materials in <br />sensitive areas. In addition, all lots which have downhill slopes adjacent to trees <br />shall have a curb-type drain system or equivalent installed along the length of the <br />lot line adjacent to such trees. No grading or soil compaction shall occur within <br />four feet of the leaf canopy edge of a tree, and the edge shall be completely <br />encircled with a strip of 20-gauge aluminum flashing buried 12 inches deep to <br />shunt runoff water from the root zone . <br />4. With the exception of orchard trees and other non-heritage trees which do not line <br />Vineyard A venue and are located in Vineyard districts , the developer shall plant <br />City-approved native trees on the site at a six-to-one replacement ratio for each <br />tree removed, in a mix ranging from five-gallon (20 percent), 15-gallon <br />(60 percent), and 24-inch box (20 percent). The location and arrangement of <br />such trees shall be subject to the approval of the City. The tree plan, replacement <br />planting, and follow-up care shall be handled by an established horticultural firm <br />which specializes in the reforestation of Bay Area woodland sites. The plan shall <br />include a set of stringent rules regarding the use of herbicides. <br />E. POTENTIAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL/IDSTORICAL RESOURCES <br />1. If any prehistoric or historic artifacts or other indications of cultural resources are <br />found once project construction is underway , all work must stop within 20 meters <br />(66 feet) of the find. A qualified archaeologist shall be consulted for an <br />immediate evaluation of the find prior to resuming ground-breaking construction <br />activities within 20 meters of the find. If the find is determined to be an <br />important archaeological resource , the resource shall be either avoided, if <br />feasible , or recovered consistent with the requirements of Appendix K of the State <br />California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines. <br />2 . In the event of discovery or recognition of any human remains in any on-site <br />location, there shall be no further excavation or disturbance of the site or any <br />nearby area reasonably suspected to overlie adjacent remains until the County <br />Coroner has determined, in accordance with any law concerning investigation of <br />the circumstances, the manner, or the cause of death and has made <br />recommendations concerning treatment and disposition of the human remains to <br />the person responsible for the excavation, or to his or her authorized <br />representative. <br />89
