CITY OF PLEASANTON URBAN FOREST MASTER PLAN | 39
STATUS AN FOREST
Callippe Preserve Golf Course
Value to the Landscape:
Callippe Preserve Golf Course is more
than just a place to play golf—it’s a
sanctuary for local wildlife. The City
shows dedication to environmental
stewardship through the course
design, which creates vital habitats
for a variety of wildlife species.
These habitats not only add to the
course’s natural beauty but also help
maintain the area’s ecological balance.
There are many native habitat areas
throughout the course, often following
the contours of seasonal creeks
and drainages. The golf course is
designated as a Certified Audubon
Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon
International. To reach certification,
a golf course must demonstrate that
they are maintaining a high degree
of environmental quality in a number
of areas including environmental
planning, wildlife and habitat
management, outreach and education,
chemical use reduction and safety,
water conservation, and water quality
management.
