City of Pleasanton UFMP – Touriga Creek Riparian Corridor Tree Inventory Addition
July 18, 2024
Sarah Hosterman
Landscape Architect Assistant
City of Pleasanton
200 Old Bernal Avenue, P.O. Box 520
Pleasanton, CA 94566
Subject: Proposal to Conduct an Additional Tree Inventory of the Touriga Creek Riparian Corridor for the
Pleasanton Urban Forest Master Plan
Dear Sarah:
In a discussion with City staff on July 16, 2024, the City requests an additional area be inventoried along the
Touriga Creek riparian corridor, from Vintage Hills Park to Bernal Avenue. The riparian area has been an area
where maintenance responsibility of the trees is unclear, and this inventory addition will allow staff to prioritize
maintenance of trees that pose the greatest risk to adjacent properties. Thank you for the opportunity to submit
this proposal.
Scope of Services
TASK 1 TREE INVENTORY
Dudek arborists will evaluate trees within the highlighted Project Area of the Touriga Creek riparian corridor shown
in Figure 1, which extends from Vintage Hills Park to Bernal Avenue. This will involve gathering any necessary
background information from the City and conducting a series of on-site visits to collect information on each tree
over 6 inches in diameter within the Project Area.
Task 1.1 Tree Inventory Data Collection
Dudek’s International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborists will perform a physical inventory, collecting
tree location and arboricultural attribute information for each tree within the Project Area six inches in diameter or
larger at 4.5 feet above ground level. From a review of aerial images of the site and our conversation, we estimate
that there are between 400 and 500 trees within the Project Area.
For each surveyed tree, Dudek arborists will map the location and collect the tree attribute information requested
by the City, including species, diameter, height, crown width, and health and structural condition. For increased
mapping accuracy, tree location mapping will be conducted using Apple iPhones or iPads paired with an external
Bluetooth antenna (EOS Arrow 100 and Trimble R1). Digital tree location information will be stored and managed
in the field using the ArcGIS Field Maps application. Tree attribute data, collected simultaneously with feature
positions, will also be linked to tree location information, and stored in a cloud-based database.
EXHIBIT ADocusign Envelope ID: B77C64C5-64BF-4372-A9CF-D90AF24B5ABBDocusign Envelope ID: D283A782-308F-47B5-A148-FB6364A8FB43
