Page 1 of 2 <br />Item #5 <br /> <br />CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION <br />AGENDA REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />November 4, 2024 <br />Library and Recreation <br /> <br />TITLE: REVIEW AND APPROVE FUNDING CRITERIA FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024/25 <br />COMMUNITY GRANT PROGRAM - CIVIC ARTS CATEGORY <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />Annually, the Civic Arts Commission reviews the previous year’s funding criteria for the civic <br />arts category of the Community Grant Program to better evaluate applications and allocate <br />funds for qualifying applicants. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Review and Approve Funding Criteria for Fiscal Year 2024/25 Community Grant Program - <br />Civic Arts Category <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The funding criteria adopted by the Civic Arts Commission for the FY 2023/24 are listed <br />below. <br />1. Encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) <br />2. Engage new participants and audiences in the arts, as well as participants that are <br />diverse in age and race <br />3. Target a specific community need or gap in art services <br />4. Pursue arts education programs or collaborate with the Pleasanton Unified School <br />District (PUSD) <br />5. Involve collaboration or co-production with local organizations. <br /> <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Civic Arts Commission should discuss, identify, and adopt the criteria to make allocations <br />for the FY 2024/25 grant cycle. The funding criteria will be included in the FY 2024/25 <br />Community Grant Program Application packet and should be considered by commissioners <br />when allocating funding amounts. <br /> <br />EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY <br />Previous funding criteria have focused on equity. Continuing to focus on diversity, equity, <br />inclusion, partnerships, community needs, and new participants will continue to advance equity <br />in the city through the arts. <br /> <br />OUTREACH <br />No outreach has been done in advance of this item. <br /> <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Page 50 of 58
