<br /> Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails <br />Committee Meeting <br />Agenda Report <br /> October 28, 2024 <br /> <br />Item 4 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />SUBJECT: UPDATE TO THE CITY OF PLEASANTON BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN <br />MASTER PLAN <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />The current City of Pleasanton Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan (BPMP) was completed in <br />2018 and contains the goals and policies for developing and implementing the bicycle and <br />pedestrian networks within the city. The BPMP builds on the General Plan blueprint and is the <br />official policy document addressing the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Since <br />the adoption of the BPMP, several improvements have been implemented, and other project <br />studies initiated. <br /> <br />It is required that the master plan be updated every five years to allow the City to compete for <br />State Bicycle Transportation Account funds and various grant opportunities. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff summizes that a comprehensive update to the master plan chapters will be required. <br />• Chapter 1 updates to the community involvent and existing setting <br />• Chapter 2 updates to the Goals, Policies, and Actions <br />• Chapter 3 updates to existing and proposed bicycle and pedestrian facilities, including <br />high bicycle and pedestrian generators <br />• Chapter 4 updates to the corridors and volume forecasts, including prioritizing high <br />bicycle and pedestrian generators within the city <br />• Chapter 5 minimum updates to the prioritization criteria <br />• Chapter 6 updates and revisions to the current and future support programs throughout <br />the city <br />• Chapter 7 updates to the current and past expenditures, cost of new bicycle and <br />pedestrian facilities, funding sources, and implementation strategies <br />• Update to all appendices <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that the Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails Committee receive this information and <br />provide feedback as necessary. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
