Page 1 of 2 <br />Item #3 <br /> <br />PARKS AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION AGENDA REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />September 12, 2024 <br />Library and Recreation <br /> <br />TITLE: RECEIVE AND COMMENT ON FY 2023/24 LIBRARY AND RECREATION <br />PROGRAMS AND SERVICES PRESENTATION <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />The City of Pleasanton’s Library and Recreation Department provides a wide range of <br />programs and services to meet the community's needs and interests. The attached <br />presentation (Attachment 1) overviews these programs and services for fiscal year (FY) <br />2023/24. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Receive and Comment on FY 2023/24 Library and Recreation Programs and Services <br />Presentation. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Pleasanton’s Library and Recreation Department offers community services and <br />programs in areas including Gingerbread Preschool, youth and teen services, senior services, <br />recreation for adults with developmental disabilities, theater programs, public art, visual arts, <br />performing arts, cultural and environmental education, sports programming, aquatics <br />programming, library programs and services, special events (such as cultural celebrations and <br />Hometown Holiday), homeless outreach services in partnership with local non-profits and the <br />Police Department, and cemetery services. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />The attached presentation (Attachment 1) overviews library and recreation programs and <br />services for FY 2023/24. Notably, these programs and services have rebounded from <br />pandemic lows and, in many cases, have higher participation numbers than in 2019. Staff <br />reviews programs and services based on participation numbers, revenue generation, and <br />participant survey feedback. Programs are modified for continual improvement in all areas. <br />The community has responded well to the latest offerings. <br /> <br />EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY <br />The programs and services outlined in the attached presentation (Attachment 1) are created <br />and adapted regularly by staff to reflect the community's changing needs and interests. <br /> <br />OUTREACH <br />No outreach was done for this item; however, the Library and Recreation department does <br />extensive marketing and outreach for the various programs and services outlined in the <br />attached presentation (Attachment 1). <br /> <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Page 6 of 95
