<br /> <br />2-14 <br />Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Master Plan <br />Section Two – Recreation Facility Needs Assessment 2014  <br />  <br />Workshop Participant Questionnaire  <br />  <br />During the community workshops, participants were asked to complete a questionnaire soliciting their  <br />input on parks and recreation.  There were a total of forty‐five (45) completed questionnaires from all  <br />the public meetings.    <br />  <br />Community Workshop #2 – Sports and Community Facilities  <br />  <br />The second community workshop was held on Monday, December 10, 2012.  Eighty‐Five (85) sports and  <br />community group representatives and residents attended this workshop.  This workshop identified the  <br />most and least favorite facilities in Pleasanton, the most important facility needs, and helped to identify  <br />opportunities to address those needs.  <br />  <br />According to the workshop participants, the most favorite parks and/or recreation facilities in  <br />Pleasanton are (in order of preference):  <br />1. Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center  <br />2. Sports and Recreation Community Park  <br />3. Augustin Bernal Park  <br />4. Firehouse Arts Center  <br />5. Tennis Center  <br />6. Delucchi/Lions‐Wayside Parks  <br />7. Veterans Memorial Building   <br />8. Val Vista Community Park  <br />9. Amador Valley Community Park  <br />  <br />According to the same workshop participants, the least favorite parks and/or recreation facilities in  <br />Pleasanton are (in order of least favorite, 1= least favorite):  <br />1. Upper Pleasanton Field– access/parking/lack of restrooms  <br />2. Middle school field maintenance  <br />3. Trail system – linkages  <br />4. Delucchi/Lions‐Wayside Park(s) – creek/drainage/bandstand/access/  <br />1st street/layout  <br />5. Val Vista Community Park – smell and needs artificial turf  <br />6. Bernal Community Park – unfinished acreage  <br />7. Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center – not enough lanes, parking, pathway lighting  <br />8. McKinley Park – run down, used to store mulch   <br />9. Alviso Adobe Community Park – underutilized/programmed  <br />10. Augustin Bernal Park—lack of parking  <br />  <br />The top park and/or recreation facility needs in Pleasanton are (in order of priority):  <br />1. All‐weather fields  <br />2. Swim facility – away from current site  <br />3. Trail improvements/bike lanes/linkages  <br />4. Pool upgrades  <br />5. Dog parks  <br />6. Restrooms at parks  <br />
