RESOLUTION NO. 24-051 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT <br />OF JUSTICE'S OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS' BUREAU OF JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE'S PATRICK LEAHY BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP IN AN <br />AMOUNT UP TO $40,000 <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice Program's Bureau of <br />Justice Assistance (BJA) is administering the Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) <br />that offers grant funds to reimburse law enforcement agencies for up to 50% of the cost of <br />bulletproof vest expenditures for law enforcement officers; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is seeking up to $40,000 from the BJA BVP grant to <br />support the purchase of 39 bulletproof vests between April 1, 2024, and August 31, 2026; and <br />WHEREAS, bulletproof vests have been attributed to saving the lives of over 300 law <br />enforcement officers since 2015; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton procedures require the City Council's approval for all <br />grant applications and funding agreements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br />SECTION 1. Approves the filing of an application with the BJA BVP grant; and <br />SECTION 2. Authorizes the City Manager, or designee, to execute all necessary <br />documents required by the BJA BVP grant program; <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a <br />regular meeting held on July 16, 2024. <br />I, Jocelyn Kwong, City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, California, certify that the foregoing <br />resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on the 16th day of July 2024, <br />by the following vote: <br />Ayes: <br />Councilmembers Arkin, <br />Noes: <br />None <br />Absent: <br />None <br />Abstain: <br />None <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM. <br />I� �zJf <br />D niel G.
