RESOLUTION NO. 24-050 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF <br />CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY'S SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT <br />PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $140,400 <br />WHEREAS, the State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) is administering the 2025 <br />Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) that offers grant funds to reimburse law <br />enforcement agencies for overtime expenditures specifically directed towards traffic safety; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is seeking $140,400 from the OTS STEP grant to <br />conduct Driving Under the Influence saturation patrols, traffic enforcement operations, distracted <br />driving enforcement, motorcycle safety programs, pedestrian and bicycle safety programs, and <br />public education on an overtime basis between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025; and <br />WHEREAS, best practice strategies will be conducted to reduce the number of persons <br />killed and injured in traffic collisions involving impairment and other primary collision factors; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton procedures require the City Council's approval for all <br />grant applications and funding agreements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br />SECTION 1. Approves the filing of an application with the OTS STEP grant; and <br />SECTION 2. Authorizes the City Manager, or designee, to execute all necessary <br />documents required by the OTS STEP grant program; <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a <br />regular meeting held on July 16, 2024. <br />I, Jocelyn Kwong, City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, California, certify that the foregoing <br />resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on the 16th day of July 2024, <br />by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Arkin, Balch, Nibert, Testa, Mayor Brown <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Jo yn K ng. ity Clerk <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM <br />niel G.
