Page 11 of 12 <br /> <br />To complement the improvements to the Council Chamber and to be consistent with the City’s <br />goal to reduce water use and lead by example, the City sheet mulched a portion of the front <br />lawn of 200 Old Bernal Avenue and removed and replaced the other lawn and planting areas <br />with primarily native and all low-water-use plants and a new more efficient irrigation system. <br />• On October 18, 2023, staff completed draft plans for converting the lawn and high- <br />water-use plants in front of 200 Old Bernal Avenue to low-water-use and mostly native <br />plants. <br />• On November 3, staff met with the City’s landscape contractor, Terra Landscape, to <br />discuss the project and review construction details and schedule. <br />• On November 16, Terra Landscape provided the city with its landscape renovation <br />proposal. <br />• On November 20, staff provided Terra with a Notice to Proceed with the work. <br />• On November 29, construction began. <br />• On December 27, the planting and irrigation improvements were substantially <br />completed. <br />o In early January 2024, the contractor completed the installation of the decomposed <br />granite path and finalized all remaining construction items. <br />o On January 11, staff completed the final walk through of the project. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Page 23 of 33
