City of Pleasanton
CCA Renewable Energy Scenario Planning
3
• Ava’s Bright Choice package will align with State RPS requirements to be 60 percent renewable by
2030, 90 percent by 2035, 95 percent by 2040, and 100 percent by 2045.
Results
GHG Emissions Forecast
Under the first scenario presented by the City, municipal buildings and facilities maintain enrolment in
Ava’s Renewable 100 electricity package which has an emissions factor of zero, thereby resulting in
zero emissions (see Table 2). Under scenario 2, the City begins and ends enrolment on July 1,
effectively resulting in a 50/50 enrollment split between Renewable 100 and Bright Choice in the
years 2024 and 2028. Scenario 3 also results in a 50/50 enrollment split beginning in 2024 but
maintains 100 percent enrolment in Bright Choice through to 2045. The GHG emissions associated
with the second and third scenarios are presented in Tables 3 and 4 below. Additionally, Figure 1
shows the impact of each scenario on the total community GHG emissions over time, and the impact
on the City reaching its 2030 GHG emissions target.
