PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL AND <br />PLEASANTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (PUSD) BOARD OF TRUSTEES <br />JOINT SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES <br />Tuesday, April 30, 2024 <br />Pleasanton Unified School District Boardroom <br />5758 W. Las Positas Blvd., Pleasanton, CA 94588 <br />1.Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance <br />PUSD Board President Mary Jo Carreon called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m., led the Pledge of Allegiance <br />and then turned the meeting over to the meeting chair, Mayor Brown. <br />2. Roll Call <br />PUSD Director of Communications Patrick Gannon conducted the roll call. <br />Members present: <br />●Pleasanton City Council: Mayor Karla Brown, Valerie Arkin, Jack Balch, Jeff Nibert, Julie Testa <br />●PUSD Board of Trustees: Board President Mary Jo Carreon, Justin Brown, Steve Maher, Kelly Mokashi, <br />Laurie Walker <br />Member not present: <br />PUSD Student Board Trustee Valentina Avalos <br />3.Presentation: Youth in Government Day 2024 (City/ PUSD) <br />Chair of Youth Commission Carys Shannon presented and City Director of Library and Recreation Heidi <br />Murphy and PUSD Deputy Superintendent Ed Diolazo provided support. Following the presentation, the panel <br />answered questions from members. Mayor Brown opened public comment. There were no speakers. Mayor <br />Brown closed public comment. <br />4.Presentation: 2023 Collaboration Highlights (City/PUSD) <br />PUSD Deputy Superintendent Ed Diolazo and City Director of Library and Recreation Heidi Murphy presented. <br />Following the presentation, the panel answered questions from members. Police Chief David Swing and PUSD <br />Assistant Superintendent Ahmad Sheikholeslami joined the panel to answer questions. Mayor Brown opened <br />public comment. There were no speakers. Mayor Brown closed public comment. <br />5.Presentation: City and District Financial Overview and Revenue Options (City/PUSD) <br />PUSD Assistant Superintendent Ahmad Sheikholeslami and City Director of Finance Susan Hsieh presented. <br />Following the presentation, the panel answered questions from members. Mayor Brown opened public <br />comment. There were no speakers. Mayor Brown closed public comment. <br />6.Presentation: City and District Collaboration in Planning for the Future in consideration of the City’s <br />Housing Element Update, PUSD Boundary Adjustment, and Current PUSD Enrollment (City/PUSD) <br />PUSD Deputy Superintendent Ed Diolazo, PUSD Assistant Superintendent Ahmad Sheikholeslami and City <br />Director of Community Development Ellen Clark presented. Following the presentation, the panel answered <br />questions from members. Mayor Brown opened public comment. There were no speakers.
