Lighting at 2207 Martin Avenue, Pleasanton
Michelle Kloos
Wed 4/17/2024 4:50 PM
To: Diego Mora <DMora@cityofpleasantonca.gov>
*** [EXTERNAL] This message comes from an external organization. Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links,
especially from unknown senders. ***
Hello.
My name is Michelle Kloos. My husband and I own our home at Picard Avenue. We have lived at
this address since 1996. I have been a Pleasanton resident since 1975.
I am contacting you regarding the request to install 15’ lights at the subject address. This backyard
backs up to a wood fence that runs along Dennis Drive. This is the neighborhood our family resides.
Although we live on Picard Avenue, our home is 2 houses and a narrow street distance away from the
subject’s tennis court.
We appreciate and encourage outdoor exercise and play. We, too, have an outside sport court. We
went through proper channels for approval of our 2 10’ lights. At the city’s suggestion, we contacted
all adjacent neighbors for their approval. They all approved in writing. We made sure to make our
lighting directed in a downward plane, as required by the City.
The light poles at this Martin Avenue residence will very likely affect the Bortle Scale and restful sleep
of the homes that are alongside or on Dennis Drive. Although these homes adjacent Dennis Drive
and/or on Dennis Drive are in a different neighborhood than the subject address, the size and scope
of the requested lighting will highly affect these homes, and our home (but in a lesser amount).
15’ light poles are 50% taller than the 2 light poles at our home. 6 15’ light poles in a suburban
neighborhood will be a significant disturbance to our neighbors, and even our home.
It is my experience that lighted public tennis courts are available for night use.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Michelle and Mike Kloos
Sent from AT&T Yahoo Mail for iPhone
4/22/24, 2 02 PM Mail Diego Mora Outlook
https //outlook office365 com/mail/AQMkADU4YzE1MDI1LWJjYjEtNGUwNi04MGM0LWRmNjhlM2QzYmMzYwAuAAAD2BhmSoQUk0682yYoSO8IiA 1/1
