The Pleasanton Police Department's military equipment inventory is wide-ranging, and the
equipment is not utilized on all calls for service. The police department recognizes that critical
incidents are unpredictable and dynamic. Various military equipment options can greatly assist
incident commanders, officers, and specific units in bringing those incidents to a swift and
peaceful resolution. The use of military equipment is restricted to use only in certain instances
and, in some cases, only by specific units.
This section outlines the military equipment usage from January 1st, 2023, through December
31st, 2023. Certain items of military equipment, particularly consumables (ammunition,
diversionary devices, less lethal rounds, chemical agents, etc.), are used throughout the year
regularly for training to maintain proficiency. Usage in training environments is not captured in
this annual report. The usage section of this report only provides data for the operational use of
military equipment listed within this Annual Military Equipment Use Report.
Outreach and Community Engagement
The Pleasanton Police Department is devoted to collaborating with our community to build trust.
As the police department continues to improve community relationships, we remain committed
to being a model of excellence and a leader in the law enforcement profession.
