The park is 237 acres of natural open space available to hikers and bikers. Access to the park is through a private development called Golden Eagle as well as via the East Bay Regional Park District's Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park. The park has been designated by Cal Fire as in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. In June 2022, approximately seventy acres of parkland burned in the Canyon fire. Significant fuels built up in the park along trails and fire roads and there is no current maintenance protocol for fuels reduction. According to the Pleasanton Parks Superintendent, fuels in the park have never been reduced.
