The proposed Inclusiveness in Materials Statement integrates the Collection Development Policy and the Request for Reconsideration of Material Form with a review process. It outlines the City's position on its freedom to acquire lawful library materials, its unwavering commitment to oppose attempts to censor library resources and its dedication to respecting individual choice. Based on the above discussion points, the Library Commission voted on October 5, 2023, to recommend the City Council adopt a resolution approving updated policies related to 1) Public Access to the Internet Policy, 2) Library Materials Recovery Policy, 3) Collection Development Policy, 4) Request for Reconsideration of Material Form, and 5) Inclusiveness in Materials Statement. STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT Approval of this resolution (Attachment 13) advances the Citywide ONE Pleasanton strategic plan goal of Building a Community Where Everyone Belongs, Strategy 3 — Implement high priority items from the Library and Recreation Strategic Plan to continue to deliver activities and programs that meet the needs and interests of the community.
