allocation policy that we have been requesting for a year now, when former staff leads resigned and changes
to these formerly efficient procedures began.
We are proud to have led the charge to raise $2 million for the community asset, Stanford Medicine Sports
Complex at Bernal Community Park. Comparing our facility usage fee model to other cities does not take into
consideration this unique partnership that our Co-sponsored groups and members of the Sports Council
have with the City of Pleasanton. We hope to continue with this model for future facility needs, versus
having to pay for daily usage and potentially have less access to facilities.
We are saddened that the spirit of collaboration between our groups and the Library and Recreation
Department has declined significantly over the past 12 months but remain hopeful that the partnership of the
past can come about again.
On behalf of BUSC, RAGE, our nearly 3,000 youth participants and several thousand parent members, the
majority of whom are Pleasanton residents, we respectfully request that the new Co-Sponsorship proposal
and supporting documentation be further investigated prior to the October 17th City Council meeting, or that
this agenda item be postponed until corroborated evidence of their findings be provided. We would prefer to
work together on a solution versus having this played out in a public forum, but at a minimum, we request
that the Library and Recreation Department staff provide a formal presentation on this important proposal to
City Council versus having the proposal offered as a consent item, should it still be included on the October
17th agenda.
We would be happy to meet with you to further share our concerns on this issue. If you believe we should
present this information at the October 3rd City Council meeting, to alert and inform other City Council
members in advance of the October 17th meeting, please let us know. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Ballistic United Soccer Club and Pleasanton RAGE Girls Soccer Club
7
