7
THE CITY OF
ice' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTON.
October 3, 2023
Police
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A TRAFFIC RECORDS
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT GRANT FOR $39,100 FROM THE STATE
OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY
SUMMARY
The State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) sponsors several grant programs
including the Traffic Records Improvement Project (TRIP) grant for timely, accurate, and
complete traffic records to identify and prioritize traffic issues. The City applied for and
was approved for grant assistance to improve and streamline its traffic collision
database systems. As a result, the OTS has awarded the City of Pleasanton Police
Department a grant of $39,100 for the period of October 1, 2023, through September
30, 2024.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution to accept the Traffic Records
Improvement Project grant award for $39,100 from the State of California OTS and
authorize the City Manager to execute all documents, and appropriate $39,100 to
project 24802 in the Operations Grant Fund in Fiscal Year 2023/24.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Acceptance of the TRIP grant award will provide $39,100 in funding to upgrade the
Police Department's traffic and collision database. This grant will fund a recordkeeping
software update project and reduce General Fund expenditures. No City matching funds
are required to accept this grant award. Funds will be appropriated to the Operations
Grant Fund in FY 2023/24.
