Christina Casha
From: Dinesh Sharma
Sent: Friday, September 15, 2023 5:56 PM
To: Pleasanton City Clerk
Subject: Proposed water rate hike
Categories: GENERAL
***[EXTERNAL]This message comes from an external organization.Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown
senders.***
I see the rationale for water rate hike to be really vague.
"Rate hike is necessary to ensure there will be adequate funding to complete the City of Pleasanton's planned capital
improvement projects, maintain reserve funds, prepare for future State and Federal regulations,
and cover the cost of operation, maintenance, construction, and improvement of the City's infrastructure."
I need the following information before the public hearing:
1. Details of planned capital improvement projects including cost and timeline.
2. How much has been the reserve fund in past years? And why it need to go up and by how much?
3. Prepare for future state and federal regs. Really? Do you know what regs are coming and what improvements would
they require? I don't think even lawmakers know about it.Two things-why not wait for the related increase when they
actually come by? It's not that new laws need to be implemented overnight. In any case please supply the related
nformation.
I.. What's the maintenance/operation cost that was not covered by the last inflation adjustment?
I would expect other town residents also needing this info.
Thank you
Dinesh Sharma
1
