<br />instrumental activities of daily living. Some or all of the living units may include kitchenettes and private bathrooms.

<br />18.08.485 Service station.
<br />A. “Service station, full-service” means a place where gasoline or any other motor fuel, grease, lubricating oil and
<br />accessories for the normal operation of motor vehicles are offered for sale to the public, the direct delivery of
<br />gasoline, motor fuel and lubricants into the motor vehicle is made by the station operator or vehicle operator, and
<br />where minor repairs to motor vehicles are performed only inside a work bay. One tow truck based at the site may
<br />be considered an incidental use to the service station.
<br />B. “Service station, self-service” means a place where gasoline or other motor fuel and lubricating oil for the normal
<br />operation of motor vehicles are offered for sale to the public and the direct delivery of motor fuel and lubricants
<br />into the motor vehicle is made by the vehicle operator.
<br />C. “Service station, quick-service” means a place where lubrication of the motor vehicle chassis, engine and drive
<br />train is performed by the service station operator and where minor repair to motor vehicles may be performed.

<br />18.08.490 Sign.
<br />“Sign” means any lettering or symbol made of cloth, metal, paint, paper, wood or other material of any kind
<br />whatsoever placed for advertising, identification, or other purposes on the ground or on any bush, tree, rock, wall, post,
<br />fence, building, structure, vehicle, or on any place whatsoever. The term “placed” shall include constructing, erecting,
<br />posting, painting, printing, tacking, nailing, gluing, sticking, carving, or otherwise fastening, affixing, or making visible
<br />in any manner whatsoever beyond the boundaries of a site. (Prior code § 2-5.28(a))

<br />18.08.495 Sign area.
<br />“Sign area” means the area of a sign shall be computed as the entire area within a single continuous rectilinear
<br />perimeter or not more than eight straight lines enclosing the extreme limits of writing, representation, emblem, or de-
<br />sign, together with any material or color forming an integral part of the display or used to differentiate the sign from the
<br />background against which it is placed. Sign supports shall not be included in determining sign area unless they are an
<br />integral part of the display. The area of a sign or the total area of all signs on a site shall be the total area that would be
<br />visible, whether legible or not, to an off-site observer having an unobstructed view of the site from any single point
<br />within a horizontal distance of 100 feet from the site boundary at an elevation not more than 100 feet above the site

<br />18.08.500 Sign, subdivision.
<br />“Subdivision sign” means any sign located either on or off a subdivision tract which indicates the direction to or
<br />advertises the location, existence, or sale of a subdivision or any part thereof. (Prior code § 2-5.28(c))

<br />18.08.505 Single ownership.
<br />“Single ownership” means holding record title, possession under a contract to purchase, or possession under a
<br />lease, by a person, firm, corporation or partnership, individually, jointly, in common, or in any other manner whereby
<br />the property is or will be under unitary or unified control. (Prior code § 2-5.28(d))

<br />“Site area” means the total horizontal area included within the property lines of a site, exclusive of the area of ac-
