12.2 Retiree Medical Benefit Eligibility <br /> Employees who retire from the City of Pleasanton under the California Public Employees Retirement <br /> System ("CaIPERS"),Government Code Section 20000 et seq are eligible for retiree medical benefits. <br /> Retirement from the City of Pleasanton means a retirement effective date through Ca1PERS no more <br /> than 120 calendar days after separation from the City of Pleasanton. Retirees who subsequently <br /> rescind their Ca1PERS retirement forfeit this retiree medical benefit eligibility. <br /> A. Calculation of Total Service <br /> The total years of PERS service will be evidenced by the "Years of Service Credit" <br /> category indicated on the CaIPERS annual member statement or validated by Ca1PERS <br /> at the time of retirement. <br /> 1. Managers hired prior to January 1,2009 (Prior Service) <br /> Employees hired before January 1,2009 who promote to management positions <br /> may count prior years of service completed with another Ca1PERS municipal <br /> agency for the retiree medical benefit. <br /> B. Spouse/Eligible Dependent Continuation of Benefits <br /> In the case where the employee eligible for two party coverage is deceased,the amount <br /> the City is obligated to pay shall be reduced by one-half(1/2). If a spouse remarries, <br /> the obligation by the City shall terminate. Domestic partners shall be treated in the <br /> same manner as spouses for continuation of benefits. <br /> C. Vesting Schedule for Employees Hired Before January 1,2009 <br /> 1. Service Retirement <br /> For all employees who retire via a service retirement from the City of <br /> Pleasanton, the City shall pay four percent(4%) for each year of service of the <br /> City's contribution toward the monthly premium for employee and one <br /> dependent. <br /> For all service retirements the formula accelerates beginning with 10 years of <br /> service as illustrated below. <br /> Years of Service City's Contribution <br /> 10 75% <br /> 15 80% <br /> 20 90% <br /> 25+years of service 100% <br /> 2. Disability Retirement <br /> For all employees who retire via a disability retirement, the City shall pay a <br /> percentage of the City's contribution toward the monthly premium for <br /> employee and one dependent in accordance with the schedule set forth below: <br /> 4894-5387-2224 Q 21 <br />
