>
Subject:City budget
***[EXTERNAL]This message comes from an external organization.Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown
senders.***
Dear Mayor Brown, Vice Mayor Balch, and Councilmembers Arkin, Nibert and Testa,
I was surprised and shocked to read the excellent Pleasanton Weekly editorial concerning how our
city council is trying to shut down respectful dissent and civil debate. Perhaps the most troubling
aspect is the council's attempt to pass a two-year budget with no discussion by slipping it into the
consent calendar. That is a shady move.
I request that the city council move the budget vote to be its own budget item, thus allowing full and
open on this critical issue.
While a skate park and renovation of a historical building would be nice, they must not take precedent
over our city properly funding the police department and plans to ensure a reliable source of clean
water. Pleasanton has long been known for its outstanding police department and high quality of
living. Do not let these standards slip. Police funding and clean water must be our top priorities.
You must give citizens an opportunity to comment on the budget. The majority of Pleasanton
..residents consider the police department and clean water to be our top priorities.
Respectfully,
i
