Christina Casha
From: Ellen Holmgren
Sent: Monday, June 5, 2023 1:45 PM
To: Kelly Errigo
Subject: RE: City Budget
Dear Don and Kelly Errigo,
Thank you for your email to the Mayor and City Council. This email acknowledges receipt of your message.
If this comment relates to an item on the current City Council agenda and you would like to submit written public
comment, please visit https://forms.cityofpleasantonca.gov/f/writtenpubIiccomment.
Thank you for your interest in the City of Pleasanton.
Regards,
Ellen Holmgren, Administrative Assistant
City of Pleasanton
From: Kelly Errig
Sent:Saturday,June 3, 2023 2:08 PM
To: Mayor and City Council<citycouncil@cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject:City Budget
***[EXTERNAL]This message comes from an external organization.Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown
senders.***
Dear Mayor Brown, Vice Mayor Balch, and Councilmembers Arkin, Testa, and Nibert,
As you approach voting on the budget at the next council meeting on June 6th, I respectfully ask that
you take it from the consent calendar so there can be more discussion before voting on it.
As you are aware, public safety is a top concern for Pleasanton residents, myself included. It is
troubling to me that an agreement hasn't been made with the PPD for their salaries to be on par with
neighboring agencies. I have watched other city/state employees take their experience and leave
Pleasanton for better pay/benefits. They are often then replaced by others not yet at their caliber,
willing to work for less, gain experience and take that elsewhere. We are at risk for becoming a
training ground for the benefit of other cities. For the last 25 years that I have lived here, Pleasanton
has been known for their high public safety record with top notch police officers. An under resourced
police force, along with higher crime throughout the country degrades our safety, puts officers at risk
as well as the community. Well funded police forces, along with community outreach has been
documented to reduce crime, increase property values and create strong community bonds.
Additionally, clean and adequate water is an absolute necessity for our residents and continued use
-.of mandates and higher charges for residents without a near future plan is
.rresponsible. Infrastructure is the foundation of a healthy and stable city. Needs should always come
before wants, especially when those revenues are raised from our collective community. Please listen
I
