Christina Casha
From: Ellen Holmgren
Sent: Friday,June 2, 2023 5:07 PM
To: Pleasanton City Clerk
Subject: FW:lune 6 Consent Calendar - Item #13
See public comment and response below.
From:Tamara Baptista <tbaptista@cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Sent: Friday,June 2, 2023 4:54 PM
To: 654tnelson@gmail.com
Subject: Re:June 6 Consent Calendar- Item #13
Good afternoon Mr. Nelson,
Thank you for your email. The City is fully committed to the Climate Action Plan; however, we must be
strategic about the way we utilize funding for purchases that will help us fall in compliance with federal and
state regulations. Even though electrical options may be available for the City to purchase, the City doesn't
yet have the infrastructure to support fully electrical vehicles/equipment. In this instance, the recommended
purchase of a street sweeper is to replace a vehicle that is well over 30 years old—when the average life cycle
of a street sweeper is between 5-7 years. This purchase is not a want, but a must for the City. With current
CARIB regulations, the City will be facing fines and penalties moving forward if we do not make this purchase
"mind continue use of the existing street sweeper. Several years from now, we anticipate the City will be ready
fiscally, as well as structurally, to consider a full electric sweeper in the City fleet.
Thanks,
Tamara Baptista
Interim Director of Operations and Water Utilities
D: 925-931-5507
F: 925-931-5595
tbaptistaCa)_cityofpleasantonca.gov
City of Pleasanton P.O.
