Past Teen Poet Laureate projects include readings <br /> on school campuses, open mic nights, readings at civic events, after school library <br /> poetry sessions, writing workshops, and creative poems set to music in collaboration <br /> with the Firehouse Art Center's High School Music Collaborative. <br /> If appointed by the City Council, Ishmeet Dhillon will serve as Teen Poet Laureate from <br /> August 2023 through May 2024. <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION AND LIBRARY COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> Recommend the City Council approve Ishmeet Dhillon as Teen Poet Laureate for <br /> school year 2023/24. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the appointment of Ishmeet Dhillon as Teen Poet Laureate for school year <br /> 2023/24. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The Teen Poet Laureate is a volunteer position and receives no remuneration. Any <br /> expenses related to the Teen Poet Laureate program (i.e., supplies for workshops, <br /> poetry readings, and teen events) are allocated in the Library and Recreation <br /> Department's operational budget, 00150407-433154 and are not to exceed $1,000 for <br /> the school year. <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
