In Pleasanton, there are two topics that come to the top of nearly <br /> everyone's list of priorities: water and public safety. Regarding public safety, we need to be able to attract and <br /> keep the best of the best for both police and fire personnel. If we are behind the salary and benefits curve <br /> compared to other like municipalities, then we owe it to ourselves to get realigned. If our compensation scale <br /> keeps us from having a fully staffed department, then we need to adjust.
