Dear Mayor and City Council members,
I spoke at the recent hearing of the drought rate hike, but the full impact of the hike on the average consumer was not
evident.
Despite being on the citizen input for city water rates commission, this was never discussed and blindsided me too.
I have no doubt that that the money gathered, under your supervision, will be used wisely.
However but i suspect that engineering a variable revenue windfall for the City Water Dept was not the intent of the
resolution, but it was to encourage people to save water.
Setting individual 15% target vs. previous years use is the right approach, that should be taken.
Their 15% reduction in Zone7 water use and corresponding savings for their hardships, should go to the residents, and
not into the city's pockets (which is what the current resolution does, by "charging them the same amount"when they
conserve by 15%)
After looking through the (attached) analysis and reflecting on it's impact, i feel you too will see it in very
differently.
Regards
Vin
6
