3012. SUPERVISIONSAND INSPECTION. The Superintendent of Streets <br />is authorized to make such inspections in person or through authorized <br />subordinates as he may deem necessary in connection with permits issued <br />under this ordinance. All work done or uses under such permits shall be <br />under the supervision of and to the satisfaction of the Superintendent of <br />Streets. <br /> <br /> 3013. STORAGE OF MATERIALS. Unless otherwise approved by the <br />Superintendent of Streets, no material shall be stored within five (5) <br />feet of a public street, and/or excess earth materials from trenching <br />or other operations shall be removed from the pavement, traveled way, <br />or shoulder as the trench is back-filled or other work carried forward. <br /> <br /> 3014. PIPES AND CONDUITS. Utility services and other small diameter <br />pipes or rigid conduits shall be jacked o~ otherwise forced underneath a <br />paved surface. The paved surface of a road shall not be cut, trenched or <br />~therwise disturbed unless specifically authorized in the permit. No <br /> tunneling will be permitted. <br /> <br /> 3015. MINIMUM COVER. The minimum cover over any and all pipes or <br />conduits larger than two and a half (2~) inches installed within the <br />right-of-way shall be two and one-half (2~) feet of earth or imported <br />materials, unless otherwise specified in the permit. Within the public <br />street, the minimum cover of two and one-half (2~) feet shall be measured <br />from the surface, existing or planned. The Superintendent of Streets is <br />authorized to permit installation of pipes or conduits where two and one- <br />half (2~) feet of cover cannot be provided because of topography, struc- <br />tures, or other engineering necessity. <br /> <br /> 3016. BACKFILL. Backfilling of an excavation shall be in accord- <br />ance with specifications established by the Superintendent of Streets or <br />as otherwise required by him, both as to material and method; and backfill <br />shall not be placed in any excavation without compaction of the material. <br />used therein, the degree and method thereof to be to the satisfaction of the <br />Superintendent of Streets. <br /> <br /> 3017. POLES AND TRAlgSMISSION LINE CARRIERS. Clearances and types in <br />the construction of poles and transmission line carriers shall be in accord- <br />ance with rules, regulations and orders of the Public Utilities Commission <br />and other public agencies having jurisdiction. <br /> <br /> No guy wires are to be attached to trees without specific authorization <br />to do so in the permit, and in no event shall guy wires be so attached as to <br />girdle the tree or interfere with its growth. Guy wires shall not be below <br />the minimum elevation above the ground, prescribed in the rules, orders and <br />regulations of the Public Utilities Commission. <br /> <br /> When a pole, brace, stub or similar timber,is removed and not replaced, <br />the entire length thereof shall be removed from the ground and the hole back- <br />filled and compacted. Where such pole. brace, stub or similar timber was" <br />located in an area._pave~ with concrete, asph~t~ O~.'~her.. permanentcs~rfac- <br />ing, the ~rea.~ccupied shall be trimmed and resurfaced in kind to the satis- <br />faction bf the Superintendent of Streets. <br /> <br /> 3018. CUTTING EXPOSED .CON~KETE PAVEMENT. Saw cutting o~o~handu <br />cement c.oncrete may.be required by the Superintendent of Streets when the <br />nature ~f the Job or the condition:of=the st~.eet warrants, Any cuts re- <br />quired in exposed concrete sidewalk, curb, gutter, driveway, or pavin~- <br />shall be defined by a saw:cu=-to~a dep~h of not less than one-sixth (1/6) <br />the thickness of said concrete, to a maxinmun uf one (1) inch. All'cu~ .in <br />concrete shall be made to the. nearest score line, unless otherwise permitted <br />by the Superintendent of Streets.
