RESOLUTION NO. 23-1375 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, <br /> APPROVING THE ALTAMONT SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT EDUCATION ADVISORY <br /> BOARD EXPENDITURE PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023/2024 <br /> WHEREAS, as part of the Altamont Landfill Settlement Agreement, the Altamont <br /> Education Advisory Board was created; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Advisory Board is charged with the responsibility to annually propose <br /> an allocation of funds from the Education Account, to fund education programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds allocated in the Education Account are generated from the $0.34 <br /> per ton surcharge which amount to approximately $500,000 annually; and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds allocated to the Education Account are dedicated to support <br /> diversion education programs, job training in the field of waste diversion and recycling, and <br /> mitigation programs to reduce the impacts of the landfill operations on the affected neighboring <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2023/2024 Expenditure Plan proposes to achieve the stated goals <br /> through creation of mini-grant programs and project grants; and <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Altamont Settlement Agreement, concurrence by <br /> the Northern California Recycling Association, the Cities of Pleasanton and Livermore, and the <br /> Alameda County Board of Supervisors is necessary to fund any proposed allocation from the <br /> Education Account. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1: City Council authorizes the Altamont Settlement Agreement Education <br /> Advisory Board Expenditure Plan for Fiscal Year 2023/2024, as set forth in Exhibit A, a copy of <br /> which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. <br /> SECTION 2: City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this resolution and enter it into the <br /> book of original resolutions. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at <br /> a regular meeting held on March 21, 2023. <br /> {Signatures to follow on next page} <br />
