Recessed o, "Punched " Window Trimmed Window Fig . 15 : Window Design Types Development Standards All Housing Si te Development 83 .1 Each window shall either be recessed ("punched") a m inimum of two inches from the plane of the exterior buildi ng wall or shall provide durable trims that project at least two inches from the face of the building. 83.2 Each individua l building shall provide differi ng window sizes to emphasize the hierarchy of living and public spaces . A minimum of one different window size shall be introduced for each I 00 feet of proposed building perimeter length. 83.3 A minimum of50 percent of windows on south-facing elevations shall be provided with sun shading. Sun shading can be provided by using at least one of the following: a . By awnings projecting a minimum of 18 inches. b . By window openings recessed a mi n imum of four inc hes from the face of wall. c. By windows located adjacent to projecting building elements exceeding 18 inches in depth . B3 .b Window locations shou ld emphasize the repeati ng rhythm of vertical massing e lements. B3 .c Windows should be well detailed and consistent with the architectural design of the building . B3.d The material of window trims should have a co lor that is contrasting with the surrounding wall material on at least two sides of the window perimeter.
