Objective Des jgn standards for Housing Sjtes <br />A9.Landscape <br />Landscape design should create an attractive setting for multifamily residential development but must <br />balance aesthetics with natural ecosystems and resource conservation . <br />Development Standards <br />All Ho using Site De velop m ent <br />A9. l All landscaped areas shall comply with the City of Pleasanton Water Efficient Landscape <br />Ordinance (WELO). <br />A9.2 All applicants shall qualify at the minimum threshold of the Bay Friendly (BF) scorecard. <br />A9.3 Landscape plans shall designate proposed plant species. Such species shall comply with the <br />following: <br />a. A minimum of 50 percent of tree specimens shall be from species classified as Very Low on <br />the California state Water Use Classification of Landscape Species IV (WUCOLS IV) Zone <br />I plant list. <br />b. A minimum of 75 percent of shrub and ground cover specimens by quantity shall be from <br />species classified as Low or Very Low on the WUCOLS IV Zone I plant list. <br />A9 .4 Where allowed by WELO , natural turf areas shall be limited to a minimum dimension of 10 feet <br />in all directions to ensure viability. <br />M ultifam ily Developmen t <br />A9 .5 Grass planting areas outside of Group Useable Open Spaces shall be limited to no more than five <br />percent of all planting area. <br />Design Guidelines <br />All H o using Site Development <br />A9.a Landscape plans should incorporate seasonal variety and color to the maximum extent feasible. <br />A9.b Tall deciduous trees should be utilized where summer shade is needed and winter solar access is <br />desired. <br />A9.c Stormwater treatment adjacent to walking surfaces shou ld provide a ground surface within six <br />inches of sidewalk grade, or a six foot buffer strip at the grade of the walking surface. <br />City of Pleasanton -39 -DRAFT: January 4 , 2023
