Ramboll - Stoneridge Mall Residential Project
158850326.2
8/11
Confidential
Because current Section 9.04.030 regulates only the noise that may be generated by a residential project
and is not relevant to the impact described in the SEIR, this assessment considered the potential exterior
noise levels at the Project site boundaries from non-Project (off-site) stationary (non-transportation)
sources in the vicinity of the Project site and evaluated those noise levels relative to the limits quoted
above. These non-Project stationary noise sources might include, for example, mechanical equipment
associated with the shopping mall and other nearby commercial facilities and loading dock activity at the
shopping mall.
For nearby mechanical equipment, assumed sound levels were chosen based on the upper end of sound
level data available from manufacturers for similar equipment. The 10x Genomics Draft Mitigated
Negative Declaration assumed rooftop equipment for the 10x Genomics buildings would not exceed 60
dBA at 25 feet. This was used this for the analysis of sound from the 10x Genomics site. Sound levels for
loading dock activity were based on typical sound levels for truck activities. The assumed sound levels of
equipment around the project site are shown in Table 5.
The Locations of nearby rooftop mechanical equipment loading docks were identified using aerial
photographs. The only nearby loading dock serves Macy’s Department Store at the Stoneridge Mall. See
Figure 2 for locations of mechanical equipment and the loading dock.
Table 5.
