• More bike parking
• Stressed that the BPTC members wanted to ensure the new trail sections would
be Class I trails (10-foot wide minimum)
• Stated that the existing trail along the Firehouse Arts Center parking lot (8 feet of
concrete pavement, a 4-foot vegetated buffer, and a 6-foot decomposed granite
trail) was not used as designed and should not be replicated
• Suggested that the new parking lot travel lanes should be removed to prevent
vehicle/biker conflicts. At the least, the BPTC members would like one of the
lanes to be removed as this would cut down on the loss of parking stalls in the
existing parking lot while also improving safety
• Expressed support for providing a balance of recreation and parking for the
newly purchased properties on First Street.
The PRC reviewed the project and public comments on September 8, 2022. No public
comments were made at the meeting. The PRC felt the overall design met the needs of
the community and had the following comments:
• There should be a play area included in the design along with natural play
elements such as boulders and logs
• Include plenty of trees and picnic areas
• The new bandstand should complement the Firehouse Arts Center
• Some of the commissioners supported the proposed bandstand location while
others felt that it should be similarly located to Option B which was presented to
the PRC on January 10, 2019. One commissioner recommended that staff talk to
the downtown businesses to determine their bandstand location preference. The
PRC preferred a bandstand with an open back that would be large enough to
accommodate the community band.
The proposed conceptual plan and results of the public outreach efforts are now being
presented to the City Council to solicit direction regarding the update to the master plan.
After receiving the City Council's input, staff will update the master plan based on the
proposed conceptual plan and input received during the outreach process. The update
to Lions Wayside Delucchi Parks Master Plan will then be considered final, and staff will
prepare cost estimates to implement the plan for City Council consideration during the
normal Capital Improvement Project budgeting process.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
Stephen Kirkpatrick Susan Hsieh Gerry Beaudin
Director of Engineering Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1 .
