RESOLUTION NO. 23-1355 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF THE CALIFORNIA STATE DEPARTMENT OF <br /> JUSTICE TOBACCO GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $431,459 <br /> WHEREAS,the California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tobacco Tax Act of <br /> 2016 (Proposition 56) provides local public agencies with funding to promote a healthier <br /> California by reducing illegal sales and marketing of cigarettes and tobacco products, <br /> including e-cigarettes, to minors; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Pleasanton Police Department California DOJ Tobacco Grant <br /> Application was selected for grant funding, which will be used to fund a 0.5 FTE Police <br /> Officer, who will conduct education and enforcement of state tobacco laws and local <br /> ordinances. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, <br /> CALIFORNIA DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. Authorizes City Manager to accept the California State Department of <br /> Justice Tobacco Grant funds in the amount of $431,459, and execute all necessary <br /> documents required by the grant program. <br /> SECTION 2.
