Housing Element AFFH Survey Summary <br />18 <br /> <br />2.2.4 Views on Housing-Related Policies <br />Survey Question Introduction: Read a list of potential proposals around housing <br />policy in your local area. Please indicate whether you support or oppose that <br />proposal. <br />Surveyed: 293 <br /> <br />This survey section included five statements about housing policy in the local area and asked the <br />respondent to indicate their level of support using numerical scale for each question from “1-Strongly <br />oppose” to “7-Srongly support”, including a “Don’t know” option. <br /> <br />The first statement (Question 27) asked the level of support for creating more housing by making it <br />faster and easier to build more housing at all income levels. The overwhelming majority of <br />respondents answered to “strongly support” at 41.72%. The second statement (Question 28) focused <br />on protecting tenants and low-income communities from unjust evictions and limiting annual rent <br />increases. A great majority of respondents indicated “strongly support” at 60.48%. <br /> <br />For the third statement (Question 29), the greater number of respondents at 77.59% strongly support <br />the proposal of making sure the current affordable housing continues to stay affordable to those who <br />need it. <br /> <br />The next two statements asked about property zoning as it relates to housing. Question 30 asked the <br />level of support for changing the zoning in single-family home neighborhoods to allow duplexes, <br />triplexes, and fourplexes. 24.57% of respondents strongly support, in contrast to 22.49% who <br />strongly oppose. Question 31 asked the level of support for building housing in areas that are already <br />zoned for commercial office and retail development. A majority of respondents indicated to strongly <br />support at 30.53%.
