<br />In 2020, the population of Pleasanton was estimated to be 79,464 (see Table A-1). The population
<br />of Pleasanton makes up 4.8 percent of Alameda County. From 1990 to 2000, the city’s population
<br />increased by 25.9 percent, while it increased by 10.4 percent during the first decade of the 2000s.
<br />In the most recent decade, the population increased by 13.1 percent (13.6 percent according to
<br />the 2020 Census). From 2019 to 2020, Pleasanton’s population declined by less than 0.25
<br />percent. From 2020 to 2021, statewide population declined by 0.46 percent, attributed to lower
<br />natural increase (births minus non-COVID-19 deaths), a decline in immigration, and COVID-19
<br />deaths. During this year, Pleasanton’s population declined by 0.36 percent and Alameda County’s
<br />population declined 0.39 percent.
