Objective Design Standards for Multifamily Housing in R-M, C-C, and M-U Zoning Districts <br />City of Pleasanton - 20 - December 14, 2022 - DRAFT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />B8.3 Development shall provide enclosures sized adequately or to meet minimum standards for <br />Pleasanton’s source separated recycling program for refuse. Buildings shall anticipate provisions for <br />at least one of the following options: <br />a. Three (3) individual containers (carts) for each unit and a designated storage location <br />enclosed by low walls or building walls. <br />b. Three (3) Individual containers (carts) for each unit and a designated clear storage area within <br />individual unit garages. <br />c. Opaque, roofed enclosure for refuse bins built of durable materials and designed to <br />harmonize with the proposed architecture. <br />d. Appropriately sized trash room inside the proposed building. <br />B8.4 If the applicant designates an exterior enclosure for staging refuse bins or carts, the applicant shall provide <br />a letter or other confirmation from the City’s solid waste franchisee confirming that the required number of <br />bins or carts can be collected from the proposed onsite staging area. <br />B8.5 Townhouse developments with dead end alleys shall provide a letter from the city’s solid waste <br />franchisee stating that either: <br />a. Individual carts can be collected adjacent to each garage; or <br />b. One or more exterior refuse enclosure(s) for cart collection located in accordance with the <br />preceding standard can be serviced. <br /> <br />Downtown Sites <br />B8.6 If utility providers require direct access from the street to utility rooms or closets, these facilities shall be <br />configured to occupy less than 25 percent of the length of any ground floor façade facing a public right of <br />way, open space or Paseo. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Design Guidelines: <br />All Sites <br />B8.a Projects that propose exterior gas or water meters for individual dwelling units should locate meters <br />in alleys adjacent to garage entries.
