Contingency for Remaining Work $85,000
Total Anticipated Expenditures $707,000
Authorized Project Contingency and Allowance Funding $432,000
Contingency Shortfall ($275,000)
Budget
The total Capital Improvement Program budget for the Library Roof Replacement
Project, CIP No. 14408, is $2,806,456. The anticipated total expenditure for this project
is $2,996,456, including all the anticipated changes and the additional contingency,
leaving a project shortfall of $190,000. Staff recommends allocating $190,000 from the
Capital Facilities Fees Fund (Fund 203) to the Library Roof Replacement, CIP No.
14408, to complete funding for this project. The funding and anticipated project
expenditures are detailed in Attachment 1.
Schedule
Construction started in August 2022 and the roofing portion of the work is anticipated to
be completed by the end of December. At that time, the temporary fencing will be
removed. The interior maintenance access work is expected to be completed in
January. Due to the longer-than-expected procurement time for the windows and
additional gable end windows, a delay in work is anticipated between the installation of
the roof and the installation of the windows.
The estimated arrival for the gable end widows is April/May, but the installation could be
further delayed due to rain. Window installation prep work will begin a few weeks prior
to the window delivery. The four-week library closure to the public will begin when all the
windows are on site as the closure is necessary for both public safety during the
installation and the inability of the heating and cooling systems to maintain the climate
while the windows are removed and replaced. Following the closure, small, isolated
closures of interior portions of the library will be necessary for restoration work not
completed during the four-week window. The exterior stucco and remaining roof tile
installation will also take place following the window installation. The project is
anticipated to be completed by summer 2023.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
/Stephen Kirkpatrick Susan Hsieh Ge ry Beaudin
Director of Engineering Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1 .
