RESOLUTION NO. 22-1334 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT AWARD FROM <br /> THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> $50,000 <br /> WHEREAS, the State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) is administering the 2023 <br /> Selective Traffic Enforcement Program ("STEP") that offers grant funds to reimburse law <br /> enforcement agencies for overtime expenditures specifically directed towards traffic safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, best practice strategies will be conducted to reduce the number of persons <br /> killed and injured in traffic collision involving impairment and other primary collision factors. The <br /> funded strategies may include enforcement options focusing on impaired driving, distracted <br /> driving, seat belt use, motorcycle safety and pedestrian and bicycle safety. Other funded <br /> strategies may include public awareness and educational programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has been approved for a grant of $50,000 to conduct <br /> Driving Under the Influence (DUI) saturation patrols, traffic enforcement operations, distracted <br /> driving enforcement, motorcycle safety programs, and pedestrian and bicycle safety programs, <br /> and public education on an overtime basis in conjunction with STEP between October 1, 2022 <br /> and September 30, 2023. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1: Authorizes the City Manager, or his/her designee, to accept the OTS STEP <br /> grant on the City's behalf and execute all related documents necessary to implement and secure <br /> payment. <br /> SECTION 2: Appropriates the grant funds to be spent within the current and following <br /> fiscal years, FY 2022/23 and FY 2023/24. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at <br /> a regular meeting held on November 1, 2022. <br /> I, Jocelyn Kwong, City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, California, certify that the foregoing <br /> resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on the 1st day of November <br /> 2022, by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Arkin, Balch, Narum, Testa, Mayor Brown <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> Abstain: None <br /> L <br /> Jocely Kwo , C Clerk <br /> APP IRO AS TO FORM: <br /> Daniel Sodergren, City torney <br />
