12 <br /> THE CITY OF jl <br /> L.�EASANTON� CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> October 18, 2022 <br /> Fire <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE COSTS FOR WEED <br /> ABATEMENT, INCLUDING ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS, ARE A SPECIAL <br /> ASSESSMENT AND LIEN IMPOSED ON THE PROPERTIES REQUIRING <br /> ABATEMENT <br /> SUMMARY <br /> As part of the 2022 LPFD Weed Abatement Program, the City Council previously <br /> adopted Resolutions No. 22-1282 and No. 22-1288 to order the abatement of weeds on <br /> identified parcels and to declare that the weed abatement costs, including a charge for <br /> administrative costs, are the responsibility of the property owner. The attached <br /> resolution includes an itemized report showing the cost of weed abatement on a lot-by- <br /> lot basis throughout the City. The weeds on four (4) parcels were abated by a contractor <br /> hired by the City. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt the attached resolution overruling protests, approving the Cost Accounting Report <br /> for the 2022 Weed Abatement Program, and declaring that the abatement costs are a <br /> special assessment and lien imposed on the properties requiring abatement. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The weed abatement costs and an administrative fee to abate the declared nuisance <br /> are fully recoverable and become a special assessment on the property owner's tax bill. <br /> All costs involved with the Weed Abatement Program are included in the Livermore- <br /> Pleasanton Department's budget. <br />
