The vehicle would be equipped with computer and radio <br /> communications equipment, phone and internet access, backup power, a command area with a <br /> conference table and various workspaces to adequately serve as a forward command post for a <br /> variety of incidents. <br /> Manufacturer Product Description: Because this has not been purchased, no manufacturer <br /> description is available. <br /> Purpose/Authorized Uses:The purpose of the mobile command vehicle would be to provide a <br /> forward command post for critical incidents, special events, search and rescue operations, major <br /> crime scenes, tactical operations and to serve as an emergency backup dispatch center. It would <br /> provide a command area and dispatch workstations. It would be authorized for use whenever a <br /> prolonged operation could benefit from a forward command post. <br /> Fiscal Impacts:The cost of a mobile command vehicle would be approximately$925,000 with ongoing <br /> vehicle and equipment maintenance costs.The maintenance costs would depend on the type of <br /> vehicle obtained and the specific equipment it is outfitted with. A variety of grant funding is available <br /> and is expected to be able to cover a majority of the initial cost. <br /> Legal/Procedural Rules Governing Use: Procedures will be established prior to use of the vehicle. <br /> Requesting use of another agency's vehicle would require Watch Commander or Division Commander <br /> approval. <br /> Training Required: If obtained, a formalized training program for vehicle operators would be created <br /> to include driving the vehicle, operating its components and deployment considerations. <br /> Other Notes: None. <br />
