1
THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTON_
September 20, 2022
City Attorney
City Clerk
City Manager
TITLE: ADOPT FINDINGS REGARDING PUBLIC HEALTH RELATED TO THE
COVID-19 PANDEMIC TO SUPPORT CONTINUED VIRTUAL PUBLIC CITY
MEETINGS PER RESOLUTION NO. 21-1249
SUMMARY
With COVID-19 remaining a health concern, the City Council, subcommittees,
commissions and committees are allowed by state law to hold virtually public meetings.
While the Council has returned to in-person meetings, many City commissions,
committees and subcommittees continue to meet virtually. State law (AB 361, 2021)
requires the City to make public health findings to support continuing such virtual
meetings. The Council adopted findings on October 5, 2021 by Resolution No. 21-1249,
and confirmed ongoing public health concerns on November 2 and December 7, 2021,
and January 18, February 15, March 15, April 19, May 17, June 7, July 19, August 16,
2022.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt by minute order the following findings:
1. COVID-19 variants continue to result in illness, isolation, and exposure of others;
2. Many commissions and committees have large memberships, and have meeting
rooms where there is not sufficient space for physical distancing, nor robust air
purifying, to safely reduce possible exposure, particularly with many persons
asymptomatic.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
No effect. Existing staff will continue to facilitate virtual meetings.
Submitted by: Approved by:
Daniel Sodergren J cely ' K ong Gerry Beaudin
City Attorney City Clerk City Manager
