rd <br />THE CITY OF <br />• , - „F ,- M`E='1 .. CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON. <br />September 6, 2022 <br />Engineering <br />TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY DPI, INC. FOR THE <br />ANNUAL WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, <br />CIP NO. 22183 <br />SUMMARY <br />This annual water project consisted of removing and replacing three water pipeline <br />bridge/culvert crossings— Owens Drive at Chabot Canal, Tassajara Creek on Owens <br />Drive, and Gibraltar Drive at Chabot Canal. The old piping was removed and replaced, <br />and seismic fittings were installed at each end. Improvements were also completed at <br />TurnoutNo. 2 on Hopyard Road near Valley Avenue, which included adding/replacing <br />valves and flushing ports to improve operation and control of the turnout. City Council <br />awarded the project on November 16, 2021. During construction, two change orders <br />were required due to complications discovered at two of the crossings. Also, during <br />construction staff identified five additional valves that needed replacement. Two change <br />orders were authorized forthe additional valve replacement work. All work has now <br />been completed to the satisfaction of the Director of Engineering and staff recommends <br />that the project be accepted as complete. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Accept the project as complete and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of <br />Completion. <br />2. Authorize release of the retention in the amountof $42,241 to DPI, Inc. 30 days after <br />the recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br />3. Authorize the return of the project's balance of $12,054 to the Water Replacement <br />fund (Fund 421). <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The budgetedfundingfortheAnnual Water Distribution System Improvement Project, <br />CIP No. 22183 originally totaled $1 million butwas reduced to $858,755 on November <br />16, 2021, when City Council approved a staff recommendation to transfer $141,245 to <br />the underfunded Lemoine Bypass Pipeline Project, CIP No. 22199. <br />The Annual Water Distribution System Project, CIP No. 22183, expenditures total <br />$846,701, leaving a balance of $12,054 (see Attachment 1). Staff recommends the <br />project's remaining unused amountbe returned to the Water Replacementfund (Fund <br />421). <br />
