,",.I,.~4EDA COUN'~, CAI.,IFOI~ ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A UNIFORN BUILDING CODE, REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, ALTERATION, DEMOLITION, MOVING AND USE OF BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURES{ PROVIDING FOR PERMITS, FEES AND PENALTIES; ESTABLISHING FIRE ZONES;; AND REPEALING ALL ORD- INANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN COI~LICT TItEREWITH. I4HEREAS, notice has been duly given and published, and hearings held pursuant to the provisions of Section 50022.1, Government Code of the State of California, and no sufficient protest having been made, and the best interest of the City of Pleasanton appearing to be served by adoption of this Uniform Building Code; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l: ADOPTION OF THE UIII~O._RMBUILDING CODE, There is hereby adopted by the City of Pleasanton that certain code known as the Uniform Building Code, more particularly described below, except such portions as are hereinafter amended, modified or deleted, and the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and the same shall become in full force and effect at the time this Ordinance becomes effective. Said Uniform Building Code is the UNIFORN BUILDING CODE, 1964 EDITION, VOLUHE I and APPENDIX; and THE UNIPOP~BUILDING CODE STANDARDS, 1964 EDITION, VOLUNE III as copyrighted in 1964 by the International Conference of Building Officials, a certified copy of which is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, SECTION 2: ANE~S,_~pp!FI~C~_..TI_ONS, ADDITIONS TO ANn nFJ.gTIONS FKOMT~ ADOPTED CODE, The Adopted Code is hereby changed in the following respects. a. Amendments or Modifications. (1) Wherever in the Adopted Code the words Building Official are used they shall mean the Director of Public Works of the City of Pleasanton or his agent as defined in Section 3 of this Ordinance. (2) Section 303(a) is amended to read as follows: "Section 303 (a) Building Permit Fees. A fee for each buildin~ permit shall be paid to the City prl~r to issuance of the permit. Such fee shall be in the mount ~e~ forth in a fee schedule adopted by resolution of the City Such fee shall be doubled where work for which a permit required by this Code is started or proceeded with prior to obtaining said permit. The payment of such double fee shall not relieve any persons from fully complying with the requirements of thi= Cade in the execution of the work nor from any other penalties p~cec~4h~d by Ordinance." (3) Section 303 (b) is amended to read as follows: "Section 303 (b) Plan-Checking Fees. At the time o£ mitting plans and specifications with the application for a building permit, a plan-checking fee, in addition to tke building permit fee, shall be paid to the City. The plan- checking fee shall be equal to one-half of the building permit fee. EXCEPTIONS: A plan-checking fee will not be required for the following: 1. A building or structure whose valuation is less than $5,000. 2. One story buildings of stud bearing wall con- struction with no floor or roof having a clear span from bearing to bearing in excess of twenty- four feet. 3. Dwellings of Type V construction. 4. Alterations or repairs of a non-structural nature."
