CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 04-063 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ALLOCATION OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT <br />OF CONSERVATION'S DIVISION OF RECYCING FUNDS TO SUPPORT <br />BEVERAGE RECYCLING INITIATIVES AND PROGRAMS AT PLEASANTON <br />MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL SITES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the people of the state of California have enacted the California Beverage <br />Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act that provides funds to cities and <br />counties for beverage container recycling and litter cleanup activities; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the California Department of Conservation's Division of Recycling has been <br />delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within the State, <br />setting up necessary procedures for cities and counties or their designees under the <br />program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton has received confirmation from the California Department <br />of Conservation's Division of Recycling that the City has been awarded $18,595 <br />in grant funds for Fiscal Year 2004-05 and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council at its September 7, 2004 meeting authorized the Go Green <br />Initiative Association to administer the grant funds to initiate a beverage recycling <br />program at the middle and high schools, for the 2004-05 school year. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute an agreement with <br />the Go Green Initiative Association awarding the Califomia Department of Conservation's <br />Division of Recycling grant to the Go Green Initiative Association to implement beverage <br />recycling programs at various local middle and high schools. <br /> <br /> <br />
