<br />Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails Committee Minutes January 24, 2022 <br />Page 5 of 5 <br /> <br />STAFF COMMENTS <br /> <br />Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson summarized the recent Community Development <br />Update including the three striping plans at Caltrans for review, Nevada Street project, <br />and Smart Signals. He discussed efforts to indicate upgraded signals. <br /> <br />Member Piekarski mentioned that the Parks and Recreation Commission would be <br />considering Lions Wayside and Delucchi Parks at its February meeting. <br /> <br />Member Houston asked whether the bike lane on Sunol Boulevard at I-680 has been <br />reviewed since the discussion from the previous BPTC meeting. Associate Traffic <br />Engineer Nelson stated they were moving forward but there was not yet a solution. <br />Member Houston discussed his experience in Danville with a signal detecting bicycles. <br />He questioned why the committee terms were only three years. <br /> <br />Member Stewart asked if the committee had input or influence on Regional bike trails. <br />Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson stated they typically asked for input from the City. <br /> <br />Member Piekarski discussed issues with bikes on hiker only trails; and efforts to build a <br />mountain bike trail. <br /> <br />Member Henry discussed prohibition of bikers and efforts to obtain access. Member <br />Piekarski commented on inconsiderate mountain bikers. <br /> <br />Member Nigro encouraged building more mountain bike trails at Pleasanton Ridge. <br /> <br />Member Nelson asked why the BPTC consists of two 3-year terms when other <br />committees are 4-year terms. Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson stated the BPTC was <br />established in 2010 but does not have the background on the details of the Resolution. <br />He directed Member Nelson to follow up with the City Clerkâs office. <br /> <br />Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson requested Member Stewart provide information that <br />could be disseminated to the committee. <br /> <br />Member Nibert stated he was the Planning Commission liaison to the committee. He <br />mentioned concern he received regarding Meadowlark Trail. Associate Traffic Engineer <br />Nelson explained the proposed trail related to the new development. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Chairperson Fields adjourned the meeting at 9:01 p.m. <br />
