23
THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTON
June 21, 2022
Operations Services
TITLE: APPROVE CONTINUATION OF LOCAL DROUGHT EMERGENCY
SUMMARY
On October 5, 2021, City Council adopted urgency Ordinance No. 2225 declaring
a Local Drought Emergency due to the critically reduced water supplies and continued
extreme dry weather for the protection of public health, safety, and welfare. Drought
conditions are still in effect. Calendar year 2022 is a critically dry year and is the third
dry year in a row. The Zone 7 Water Agency (Zone 7) State Water Project (SWP)
allocation this year is 5 percent, following a 5 percent allocation in 2021, and a 20
percent allocation in 2020. Water conservation targets are still being unmet consistently.
Therefore, conditions of the Local Drought Emergency support the continuation of the
emergency declaration.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the continuation of the Local Drought
Emergency.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no financial impact to continue the Local Drought Emergency.
